What’s your favorite activity to do outside of work? Outside of the office, I like to do anything sporty or anything that activates my competitive nature – from hitting the gym or playing football to playing darts after a long day over drinks with guys at the office.
What is your ideal weather like? It’s weird how much thought I gave this question, but I would have to say sunny with a slight summer breeze.
Have you ever met a famous person? If so, what happened? If not, who would you want to meet?
Living in London, we are fortunate enough to see a lot of celebrities in passing, but I have never had the chance to meet someone famous in person. If I had the opportunity, I would love to meet Louis Theroux. I have seen all his documentaries and interviews, and I would love to ask him about some of the topics he’s touched on in the past few years.
What’s it like being a part of The Trade Desk finance team? What do you enjoy most about the people you work with?
Without sounding too cheesy, I would have to say this is the best team I’ve worked with thus far. When I started at The Trade Desk, I was the only finance person based in London – the rest of my team was in Ventura. Still, they were all very welcoming and supportive, as they embraced me into the “finance family”. Their efforts have made me not feel at all like an outcast despite being 7000 miles away. And, two years later, and our UK team is flourishing. Everyone who has joined has contributed to the strong work ethic and unique culture of The Trade Desk. The best thing about my job is that even though The Trade Desk is a global company, and I work with so many people across different offices – including London, Hamburg, Singapore, and Sydney—it’s really one huge team. And I consider myself lucky, as the global nature of the company has allowed me to develop friendships worldwide, making me even more invested in the work I do and how it affects my teammates.
How do you stay connected with your US colleagues?Of course, we all stay in touch over Slack, which helps a lot. Everyone uses it, and it’s a great instrument for communication. But also, now that I’ve been at The Trade Desk for two and a half years, I’ve built genuine friendships with people internationally, connecting with them over the phone or through social media. It’s not uncommon for me to have conversations with my friends from The Trade Desk outside of work about topics that aren’t work related at all. I think The Trade Desk has done a great job really investing in ensuring the ties between offices remain strong by allowing and encouraging people to visit different offices – those face to face moments are priceless. And our annual, company-wide event, Palooza is something I’ve never experienced at any other company I’ve worked for.
